Iwai Hamono
With seven hundred years of history of knife making Echizen has been one of the hot spots for taditional Japanese cutlery.
In that region Iwai Hamono was born. Hailing from Sakai, Genmatsu Iwai established Iwai Hamono in 1961 and soon moved to Echizen in Fukui Prefecture. His son Takayuki developed interest in his father's knife making and soon followed his steps starting from his teenage years. Because of Takayuki's dedication and skill he was certified as a Traditional Craftsman on 1994. His son Takeshi soon followed as one of the youngest who received the prestigious certification when he was 35 years old on 2006. They have been making high quality hand made knives continuing the tradition and making sure it is alive for their customers to enjoy.
We are happy to offer these beautiful knives from these masters.
